carribeans taste the victory

West indies made remarkable come back in test cricket in hands of gayle captaincy.they won the test against south africa after very longtime. Set 389 to win, South Africa succumbed to consistent pressure from the West Indian fast bowlers and were bowled out for 260 with Fidel Edwards and Jerome Taylor taking three wickets each.South Africa were never in contention after slumping to 45 for four, although Jacques Kallis (85) and AB de Villiers (60) provided resistance in a fifth wicket stand of 112, while Andre Nel (34) and Dale Steyn (33 not out) delayed the end with a hard-hitting ninth wicket partnership of 67.

It was the first away Test win for the West Indies, other than against minnows Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, since they beat England by an innings and 93 runs in Birmingham in June 2000.
South Africa's troubles started early when Daren Powell dismissed Herschelle Gibbs for his second duck of the match.Fellow fast bowler Edwards built up impressive pace to claim the wickets of Hashim Amla and South African captain Graeme Smith as South Africa slumped to 20 for three.Kallis and Ashwell Prince survived until lunch but Prince fell to Jerome Taylor four balls after the interval, edging a low catch to West Indian captain Chris Gayle at first slip.Earlier the West Indies scored 29 runs before losing their last two wickets to be all out for 175. Taylor made a hard-hit 22 before he was last man out. Left-arm spinner Paul Harris took both wickets to finish with four for 35.

poor display by batsmen

After bowler restricted Australia within 400 batting didn’t click as expected.

Batting seems to be the strength of Indian team but the poor batsmen goes to score low runs and made themselves under pressure,

Except Sachin tendulkar no one scored half century.Dravid batted almost a session and scored 13 runs.all other batsmen goes for very low runs.Yuvraj and dhoni goes for duck.sachin played a excellent knock and got his half century in style.his six against hogg was a surprise one goes to prove he is in aggression mood.Saurav ganguly gave a good partnership.only two batsmen batted well but it is not enough.

Patriots clear Giant obstacle

Brady threw two touchdown passes to Randy Moss and the Patriots finished the first undefeated NFL regular season since the Miami Dolphins went 14-0 in 1972, six years before the league adopted a 16-game schedule.

Miami added two playoff victories and a Super Bowl triumph to complete the only perfect NFL championship run, a feat the Patriots can match with two home playoff triumphs in January and a victory in the Super Bowl on February 3.

"It was a lot of hard work," Brady said. "I'm proud of this team and the way they responded when we were down. We were down 12 in the third quarter. Now we're 16-0. I just hope we can continue to play this kind of football."

The Patriots claimed a 19th consecutive regular-season victory, breaking the NFL record they set in 2003-2004. New England's last regular-season loss came on December 10, 2006, when Miami beat the Patriots 21-0.

New England also set an NFL season record with 589 total points, breaking the old mark of 556 set by Minnesota in 1998.

Brady connected with Moss on a 65-yard touchdown with 11:06 remaining that gave New England the lead for good and set a pair of NFL records.

Brady's touchdown pass was his 50th of the season, breaking the one-season record set in 2004 by Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning.

The touchdown catch for Moss was his 23rd, surpassing the one-season record set by Jerry Rice in 1987.

west ham 2-1

Defeat at Upton Park left United just a point in front of Arsenal ahead of the Gunners' late kick-off match away to Everton.

Cristiano Ronaldo's 18th goal of the season looked like being enough to give champions United a win when he headed in a 14th minute cross from Ryan Giggs.

But the Portugal star was made to pay for shooting wide from the penalty spot in the 66th minute following a handball from Jonathan Spector.

Hammers substitute Anton Ferdinand, playing against his brother Rio, drew the home side level in the 77th minute with a header and, with eight minutes to go, West Ham were ahead when Matthew Upson headed in Mark Noble's free-kick.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whose wide were without ill duo Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick, said West Ham deserved their win.

ANIMATION FILM

Generally speaking, the success of an ideal animation film depends upon its impressive animation techniques, well-sketched caricatured characters, enthralling narration, crisp dialogues, imposing background music and finally tight screenplay that can crisply describes the entire eventful happening in the two-hour plus package. "Toonz Animation", the mastermind behind all animation wizardry delivers substantial work in executing of many enthralling scenes. The chirpy talk between Hanuman and Narad is hilarious while the caricatures of Rahu and Ketu are aptly designed. The film entertains but the fervor is restricted to some well-executed sequences

SCIENCE

Science has recently begun to prove what ancient myth and religion have always espoused: There may be such a thing as a life force. Lynne McTaggart, indefatigable investigative journalist, reveals a radical new biological paradigm -- that on our most fundamental level, the human mind and body are not distinct and separate from their environment but a packet of pulsating power constantly interacting with this vast energy sea. The Field is a highly readable scientific detective story that offers a stunning picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory that makes sense of supernatural phenomena. Original, well researched, and well documented by distinguished sources, The Field is a book of hope and inspiration for today's world.

FOCUSSING ON PROBLEM

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the
pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the writing
surface).

To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They
developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in
practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from
below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...??

They used a Pencil!!!

questions on rare occasion

1. At the movies: When you meet acquaintances/ friends.. . Stupid
Question:- Hey, what are you doing here? Answer:- Dont u know, I sell
tickets in black over here..

at all, I'm on local anesthesia.. ...why don't you try again.
3. At a funeral: One of the teary-eyed people ask... Stupid Question:-
Why, why him, of all people. Answer:- Why? Would it rather have been
you?
4. At a restaurant: When you ask the waiter Stupid Question:- Is ! the
"Butter Paneer Masala" dish good?? Answer:- No, its terrible and made
of adulterated cement. We occassionaly also spit in it.

POWER OF LIGHT

PREFERANCES OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE

They are people who just don’t want to talk. Its not that they prefer to listen.Good listener always hold up theirend of conversation delightful –with appropriate facial expressions.with emphathetic smiles, giggles, squeals, and sights as just the right time and with encouraging nods or phses like go on.

These people like neither like to talk nor listen-they act as if conversation is a bore, even a painful waste of time , and the best you may expect for your efforts is a vacant stare,a noncommitittal grunt or an impatient silence. Finally ,in frustration.you give up,thinking they are self –conscious.

A INTERVIEW

Warren Edward Buffett is an American investor, businessman and philanthropist.

Buffett has amassed an enormous fortune from astute investments, particularly through the company Berkshire Hathaway, of which he is the largest shareholder and CEO. With an estimated current net worth of around US$52 billion, he was ranked by Forbes as the third-richest person in the world as of April 2007, behind Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and telecom magnate Carlos Slim.

In June 2006, he made a commitment to give away his fortune to charity, with 83% of it going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The donation amounts to approximately $30 billion. Buffett's donation is said to be the largest in U.S. history. At the time of the announcement the donation was enough to more than double the size of the foundation.

Despite his immense wealth, Buffett is famous for his unpretentious and frugal lifestyle. When he spent $9.7 million of Berkshire's funds on a corporate jet in 1989, he jokingly named it "The Indefensible" because of his past criticisms of such purchases by other CEOs. He continues to live in the same house in the central Dundee neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska that he bought in 1958 for $31,500 (although he also owned a more expensive home in Laguna Beach, California which he sold in 2004).

His 2006 annual salary of about $100,000 is tiny by the standards of senior executive remuneration in other comparable companies. CEOs in S&P 500 constituent companies averaged about $9 million compensation in 2003.

NEXT REVOLUTION

The Matrix Converter is realized by a matrix arrangement of four-quadrant

(bidirectional voltage-blocking, current-conducting) switches.

the topology of a three-phase to three-phase Matrix Converter. Each input

phase is connected to all the output phases by bidirectional switches. Any

input phase can be connected to any output phase, by turning on the cor-

responding switch. The basic principle of the Matrix Converter is that by

properly switching the devices a desired set of output voltages can be synthe-

sized from the set of input voltages. However there are certain constraints in

the power conversion. The input is typically a voltage source and the output is

normally connected to an inductive load. Simultaneous closing of more thanone switch connected to any output phase (u,v or w) will short circuit the

respective input phases. Also, if at-least one switch connected to each output

phase is not ON, the current path will be broken. This will cause overvolt-

ages to appear across the devices. The basic constraints for a three-phase to

three-phase Matrix Converter

Modulation of the Matrix Converter can be done in several ways. There are

classical methods like the Venturini method and modern control techniques

such as Space Vector Modulation . Space vector Modulation method is

described here. There is an inherent limitation to the voltage conversion ratio

in the Matrix converter in the linear modulation range. With space phasor

modulation the maximum amplitude of the output line voltages that we can

synthesize is limited to 0.866 times the input line peak

Indirect Converter Modulation

Indirect Converter is a cascade connection of recti_er and inverter. Here,

modulation can be done independently. The input converter is modulated

based on the Current Space Vector and output converter is modulated based

on Voltage Space Vector.

Input Converter Modulation

In the input converter, there are 6 bidirectional switches.shows the

current phasors obtained for each switching combination. For each sector one

switch is held ON during the sector, while the return phases are modulated.

DEAD AFTER DEAD

In the majority of cases individuals diagnosed as "brain dead" are the source of the organs without which transplants could not take place. In this compelling and provocative examination, Margaret Lock traces the discourse over the past thirty years that contributed to the locating of a new criterion of death in the brain, and its routinization in clinical practice in North America. She compares this situation with that in Japan where, despite the availability of the necessary technology and expertise, brain death was legally recognized only in 1997, and then under limited and contested circumstances. Twice Dead explores the cultural, historical, political, and clinical reasons for the ready acceptance of the new criterion of death in North America and its rejection, until recently, in Japan, with the result that organ transplantation has been severely restricted in that country. This incisive and timely discussion demonstrates that death is not self-evident, that the space between life and death is historically and culturally constructed, fluid, multiple, and open to dispute.

Environmental news

Environmental auditing looks at each area of activity in a company and assesses to what extent the company is fulfilling best environmental practice. Just like financial accounting, it involves measuring various inputs and outputs and assessing work practices in relation to these. A company’s environmental audit will assess things such as energy, water, transport, waste production and treatment of raw materials. And just like a professional financial auditor’s report, it will list the areas where problems exist and make a series of recommendations for improvement. Ideally, the environmental auditors will speak to both management and staff and the final report should be pre-submitted to the company’s board and then published annually along with the company’s annual report and accounts. The nice thing about environmental auditing is that it is a gentle process. Done properly, it assesses the current situation and makes recommendations for gradual improvement within the management, human resources and financial capacity of the company. It should outline short-term, low-cost recommendations such as introducing recycling, and longer-term, capital-intensive proposals such as water recycling or improved insulation. The list of major companies that now produce annual reports on their environmental performance includes Nike, CocaCola, BT, Guinness, Black & Decker, American Airlines,The Body Shop, BP and Ford. While some may dismiss these as ‘greenwash’, the fact that they are even considering the subject at all is progress.

MIT the great

In the midst of the go-go eighties and nineties, a group of overachieving, anarchistic MIT students joined a decades-old underground blackjack club dedicated to counting cards and beating the system at major casinos around the world. While their classmates were working long hours in labs and libraries, the blackjack team traveled weekly to Las Vegas and other glamorous gambling locales, with hundreds of thousands of dollars duct-taped to their bodies. Underwritten by shady investors they would never meet, these kids bet fifty thousand dollars a hand, enjoyed VIP suites and other upscale treats, and partied with showgirls and celebrities.

Handpicked by an eccentric mastermind - a former MIT professor and an obsessive player who had developed a unique system of verbal cues, body signals, and role-playing - this one ring of card savants earned more than three million dollars from corporate Vegas, making them the object of the casinos' wrath and eventually targets of revenge. Here is their inside story, revealing their secrets for the first time.

Art of architect.

original and sophisticated look at architecture helps us to understand the cultural significance of the buildings that surround us. It avoids the traditional style-spotting approach in favour of giving an idea of what it is about buildings that moves us, and what it is that makes them important artistically and culturally. The book begins by looking at how architecture acquires meaning through tradition, and concludes with the exoticism of the recent avant garde. Illustrations of particular buildings help to anchor the general points with specific examples, from ancient Egypt to the present day.

FACILITY

The facilities for buying snacks and drinks often represent the theater's primary source of profit since most of the ticket revenue goes to the film distributorand onward to the movie studio. Some movie theaters forbid eating and drinking inside the viewing room (restricting such activities to the lobby), while others encourage it by fitting cup holders on the arm rests (on the front side of the arm rests of one's own chair, or the back side of the arm rests in front) and selling large portions of popcorn; also in that case bringing one's own food and drinks may be forbidden. Concessions is currently a huge area of expansion with many companies in the U.S. offering a wider range of snacks, including hot dogs and nachos. The noise of people eating, including the opening of wrappers, is frowned upon by some moviegoers.

Many theaters have embraced the "brew and view" concept, serving alcoholic beverages, in addition to snacks and popcorn. Some movie theaters such as the Alamo Drafthouse offer full restaurant service at one's seat, though this is not as widespread. McMenamins is a chain of restaurant/brewpub establishments in the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington, many of which have full movie theaters.

Lord arsiel power

Lord Asriel, appears with evidence of mystery and danger in the far North, including photographs of a mysterious celestial phenomenon called Dust and the dim outline of a city suspended in the Aurora Borealis that he suspects is part of an alternate universe. He leaves Lyra in the care of Mrs. Coulter, an enigmatic scholar and explorer who offers to give Lyra the attention her uncle has long refused her.

In this multilayered narrative, however, nothing is as it seems. Lyra sets out for the top of the world in search of her kidnapped playmate, Roger, bearing a rare truth-telling instrument, the compass of the title.

All around her children are disappearing -- victims of so-called "Gobblers" -- and being used as subjects in terrible experiments that separate humans from their daemons, creatures that reflect each person's inner being. And somehow, both Lord Asriel and Mrs. Coulter are involved.

new way of cooking

The Art of Cooking, unlike the culinary manuals of the time, is a true gastronomic lexicon, surprisingly like a modern cookbook in identifying the quantity and kinds of ingredients in each dish, the proper procedure for cooking them, and the time required, as well as including many of the secrets of a culinary expert. In his lively introduction, Luigi Ballerini places Maestro Martino in the complicated context of his time and place and guides the reader through the complexities of Italian and papal politics. Stefania Barzini's modernized recipes that follow the text bring the tastes of the original dishes into line with modern tastes. Her knowledgeable explanations of how she has adapted the recipes to the contemporary palate are models of their kind and will inspire readers to recreate these classic dishes in their own kitchens. Jeremy Parzen's translation is the first to gather the entire corpus of Martino's legacy.
